Tennis Instructor - Head Coach - Recreation and Parks
About the role
The Howard County Department of Recreation & Parks is seeking a head coach for youth and adult tennis classes. Classes run weekday afternoons from 4pm-9pm and weekends from 8am-6pm. Fall classes run September - November, spring classes run April – June, and summer classes run June-August.
Responsibilities
- Teach tennis lessons to students of varying skill levels
- Ensure safety and proper technique in all lessons
- Work flexible evening and weekend hours
- Communicate effectively with students and parents
- Adapt lesson plans based on student feedback and progress
- Maintain a positive and inclusive environment
Requirements
- At least 16 years of age
- Knowledge and experience playing or instructing tennis
- Good communication skills
- Comfortable working with children
- Flexible availability during weekday afternoons and weekends
- Tennis certification preferred
- First Aid and CPR certifications preferred
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with youth and adults
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Skills
- Strong teaching abilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to adapt to different learning styles
- Patience and understanding
Benefits
Salary range: $18-$32 per hour, depending on experience.
