About the role

This position is responsible for the maintenance of park facilities, including buildings, structures, and grounds, of moderate difficulty. The ideal candidate will have experience in facility and grounds maintenance, as well as the ability to troubleshoot issues with equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and other maintenance and custodial tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection of grounds and facilities daily to identify areas or facilities needing repair and maintenance.
• Perform grounds and facilities maintenance duties as requested.
• Inspect grounds for trash, safety hazards, maintenance issues, and general appearance to ensure public safety in the park.
• Operate a variety of maintenance equipment including commercial mowers, string trimmers, chainsaws, and leaf blowers, as well as a variety of other building maintenance power and hand tools.
• Perform groundskeeping work, including cutting and trimming grass and removing obstructive trees/limbs.
• Perform custodial tasks related to cleaning facilities, including floor mopping and buffing, power washing, wall cleaning and painting, sink and mirror cleaning, supply restocking and other custodial work as required.
• Communicate with the general public to provide basic customer service and direct persons to appropriate solutions or answers.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience: Experience equivalent to two years of skilled fulltime labor and trades experience.
• NSQs: A valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required for employment in some positions.

Skills

• Knowledge of principles, equipment, and tools involved in fire prevention, grounds maintenance, building maintenance, and cleaning work.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects and bend, stretch, twist, or reach with one's body, arms, and/or legs.
• Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken or written words and sentences.
• Ability to communicate information in writing and speaking so others will understand.
