Temporary - Technical Stagehand Crew
About the Role
The Lied Center of Kansas serves the state’s flagship university, students, and the greater community as a catalyst for the arts, creativity, engagement, and community building. This is a non-student supplemental stage crew position for events at the Lied Center. The number of crew members needed varies based on production and performance requirements.
Members of the Technical Stagehand Crew assist with the set-up, running, and tear-down of Lied Center events, which include professional music, dance, and theatrical tours, University ensembles and organizations, and community events.
Responsibilities
- Hang and focus lights, change lamps, and repair cables
- Run lighting consoles
- Move curtains and load/unload counterweight arbors
- Set up and strike acoustical shells and large music ensembles
- Set up and run audio systems and cameras
- Run video projections
- Lay dance floors
- Sweep, mop, launder, and press costumes
- Clean up production areas as needed
- Repair and maintain all equipment
- Support the technical aspects of the facility under the supervision of full-time technical staff
Requirements
- Flexibility to work around performance schedules
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with this occupational group, with or without accommodation
- Experience in production or theatre (wardrobe, lighting, audio, video, and/or fly systems) obtained through coursework, volunteer, or paid work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Supervisory experience in technical theatre
- Familiarity with multiple technical theatre systems (e.g., fly rail, audio, video, lighting, rough carpentry)
- Wardrobe experience
Pay
$18.00 per hour
