Temporary Creative, Artistic, and Production Staff

Position/Role Overview

The College of Performing Arts at The New School is seeking highly qualified Temporary Creative, Artistic, and Production Staff to join its Production team. Reporting to the Vice Dean of Performing Arts and leadership of the Production & Performance Operations team, these staff members provide high-quality, professional theatrical services that guarantee the success of the College’s curricular productions.

Core Capabilities, Primary Duties, And Responsibilities

• Provide creative and/or logistical support to curricular theatrical productions as assigned.
• Ensure any relevant deliverables are generated meeting the Production’s deadlines.
• Coordinate with department heads and leadership as necessary.
• Communicate and collaborate with all stakeholders, attending all required meetings.
• Additional responsibilities, expectations, and deadlines tailored to each individual engagement will be outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in theatrical production, stage management, design, direction, or related support roles.
• Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
• Knowledge of standard theatrical practices, safety protocols, and production workflows.
• Prior experience working in academic or higher education environments preferred.

Work Mode

This position is primarily in-person and is based on campus to support effective in-person collaboration and engagement. Hybrid work arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the nature of the role and operational needs. Any such arrangement must be discussed and approved in advance by the appropriate division lead or their designee.
