TEMPORARY SW Area Lead Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator – McPhee & Vallecito

About the role

This is a temporary position starting at $20.00 per hour and is anticipated to not exceed 9 months.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of watercraft inspection & decontamination stations at McPhee & Vallecito Reservoirs
• Aid in recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of watercraft inspection & decontamination staff
• Obtain state certification to provide standardized hands-on watercraft inspection & decontamination training
• Provide on-the-job training to inspection staff
• Create work schedules and ensure all shifts are covered during operational hours
• Collect and verify accurate timekeeping records for payroll purposes
• Resolve challenges with staff and customers
• Recommend hiring/firing of employees to project lead
• Ensure stations are equipped with all necessary equipment to perform job duties
• Communicate needs with the ANS Program Office
• Perform quality control assessments on a monthly basis
• Maintain inventory of all required supplies
• Perform basic maintenance & troubleshooting on decontamination units
• Provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species
• Participate in regular meetings with ANS program office staff & fellow WID supervisors
• Clearly communicate status of work at their assigned locations
• Work closely with ANS program office staff to creatively resolve any problems that may arise
• Work closely with ramp leads to create work schedules and ensure all shifts are covered during operational hours
