About the role
This is a temporary position starting at $19.00-$20.00 per hour and is anticipated to not exceed 9 months.
Responsibilities
- Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols at Lake San Cristobal near Lake City, Colorado.
- Provide public outreach on the aquatic invasive species topic by providing printed material to those visiting the lake.
- Work independently or in pairs to inspect boats launching and leaving the lake, with respect to invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels.
- Lead Inspector responsibilities include:
- Providing on-the-job training to inspection staff.
- Making sure all shifts are covered during operational hours.
- Collecting and verifying accurate time keeping records for payroll purposes.
- Maintaining inventory of all required supplies.
- Aiding in interviewing candidates for employment.
- Working with supervisor to resolve challenges with staff and customers.
- Ensuring inspection station staff are following standardized protocols.
- Ensuring that data entry is being performed accurately and completely by all inspection station staff.
- Performing basic maintenance & troubleshooting on power washer/decontamination unit.
Requirements
- Reliable transportation and ability to work weekends, holidays, early morning and late evenings.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Reliable and timely.
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
Qualifications
- Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines and/or heavy equipment.
- Excellent customer service skills and/or experience working with the public.
