Job Summary
The Registered Nurse leads the health care team, providing professional nursing care according to established standards. They uphold Kaiser Permanente’s policies and principles, demonstrating leadership, flexibility, and quality in their work.
Essential Responsibilities
- Upholds Kaiser Permanente’s Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.
- Serves as a leader of the health care team; delegates tasks appropriately, and demonstrates accountability.
- Understands and supports the team’s scope of practice, escalating issues as necessary.
- Demonstrates professional and supportive behavior, champions new ideas, and leads the change process.
- Communicates effectively using various strategies, including chain of command and issue escalation, to achieve intended outcomes.
- Participates in problem identification and resolution, mentors, orients, and coaches others.
- Complies with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
- Develops and/or contributes to the individualized plan of care, ensuring multidisciplinary planning, consultation, and education.
- Maintains a clean, orderly, and functional work environment, treating families with courtesy, respect, kindness, and compassion.
- Provides an optimal patient care experience by actively listening to patients and family members and meeting their needs.
- Works collaboratively with other departments to assist in problem resolution.
- Manages work assignments to ensure completion of patient care activities.
- Ensures patient safety related to medications and procedures, adhering to the five rights, patient falls, decubitus prevention, and infection control.
- Ensures effective pain control and patient comfort, addressing patient anxieties, fears, or concerns.
- Ensures patient understanding of discharge instructions and medication purposes, side effects, and administration.
- Works every other weekend and some holidays.
Experience
- Minimum one (1) year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in Emergency Department.
- Registered Nurse License (California).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications.
Additional Requirements
- This position is a temporary seasonal position, non-benefited with a commitment duration of 5 months from date of hire.
- Will be required to work every other weekend and some holidays.
- FT or PT non-benefited, commitment of 5 months from date of hire.
- Primary Location: California, Harbor City, South Bay Medical Center.
- Scheduled Weekly Hours: 24.
- Shift: Night.
- Workdays: Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat.
