Job Summary

The Registered Nurse leads the health care team, providing professional nursing care according to established standards and policies. The role involves demonstrating leadership, maintaining flexibility, and ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Essential Responsibilities

• Upholds Kaiser Permanente’s policies and procedures, and adheres to applicable state and federal laws.

• Serves as a leader of the health care team, delegating tasks appropriately and holding team members accountable.

• Understands and supports the team’s scope of practice, escalating issues as necessary.

• Communicates effectively using various strategies, including the chain of command and issue escalation.

• Participates in problem-solving and mentoring, orienting, and coaching team members.

• Complies with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.

• Develops and implements individualized patient care plans, ensuring multidisciplinary collaboration and patient education.

• Maintains a safe and functional work environment, treating patients and families with respect and compassion.

• Provides prompt and courteous service to patients and families, making appropriate referrals and protecting patient confidentiality.

• Ensures patient safety, including medication administration, fall prevention, infection control, and pain management.

• Ensures patient understanding of discharge instructions and educates patients and families about outpatient medical management.

• Works every other weekend and some holidays, with a commitment duration of 5 months from date of hire.

Experience

• Minimum one (1) year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in Emergency Department.

• N/A

• Registered Nurse License (California)

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support

Additional Requirements

• This position is a temporary seasonal position, non-benefited with a commitment duration of 5 months from date of hire.

• FT or PT non-benefited, commitment of 5 months from date of hire.

• Primary Location: California, Harbor City, South Bay Medical Center.

• Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.

• Shift: Evening.

• Workdays: Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat.

• Working Hours Start: 03:30 PM.

• Working Hours End: 04:00 AM.
