TEMPORARY Limited Commissioned Ranger - Cherry Creek State Park

About the role

This is a temporary position (9 months or less) with a starting pay rate of $20.00 per hour. Employment starts in 2026. Apply directly to this announcement.

Responsibilities

• Issuing citations for violations
• Conducting patrols of park areas by vehicle (OHVs, snowmobiles, bicycles, etc)
• Responding to emergencies and resolving visitor complaints
• Completing reports and may be required to appear in court
• Aiding in all areas of daily park operations, including revenue/fee collection, verification, basic accounting, and deposits
• Assisting with general park or facility maintenance such as cleaning of public facilities (restrooms, vault toilets, campsites, picnic areas, trails, etc)
• Providing visitor services operations which may involve education and interpretive programs
• Assisting with lake, river, and backcountry recreation parks as needed
• Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Must have a current and valid driver’s license
• Must successfully complete and pass a comprehensive background check
• Must be available to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Must be available to work during inclement weather
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly during the course of a workday
• Must attend and successfully complete required Colorado State Park training
• Must have or be able to attain valid current First Aid and CPR certifications
• Must be able to work with limited supervision and work well within a team
• Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills to deliver excellent customer service
• Basic computer skills required (MS Office Suite, Google App Suite)

Qualifications

• Prior Colorado Parks & Wildlife work experience is preferred
• Previous experience handling money and working with the public is preferred
• Strong interpersonal communication skills are required
• Basic computer skills are required
