About the role
This is a temporary position (9 months or less) paying $16.50 per hour. Employment starts on 05/01/2026 through 11/30/2026 (exact dates negotiable). Housing may be available but is not conditional of employment.
Responsibilities
- Noxious weed control
- Facility and equipment maintenance
- Fence repair and construction
- Mandatory big game animal checks
- Operating and maintaining vehicles, trailers, weed spraying equipment, All Terrain Vehicles (ATV’s), power tools, and chainsaws
- Handling animal carcasses
- Data recording and record keeping
- Interacting with and answering questions from hunters and anglers
- Auxiliary tasks for District Wildlife Managers, Biologists, and other Property Technicians
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Current & valid driver’s license for operating a state vehicle
- Experience working with a variety of hand and power tools
- Vehicle/equipment/maintenance experience
- Ability to hike long distances with a pack
- Ability to accomplish physically demanding tasks
- Willingness and ability to work outside, including in inclement weather
- Good attitude
- Enthusiasm for protecting Colorado’s resources
Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
- Hiring and firing is at the supervisor's discretion
- The rate of pay for this position is fixed and therefore will not change during the season
Physical Requirements
- This position involves physical activities that require considerable arm and leg use and movement of the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials
- Must be able to lift 50-75 pounds repeatedly during the course of a single workday
