TEMPORARY/INTERNSHIP Property Technician – Meeker, CO

Description of Job

Assist the Property Technician with the daily maintenance and improvement of State Wildlife Areas in Rio Blanco County. Primary duties will include but are not limited to:

• Noxious weed control
• Facility and equipment maintenance
• Fence repair and construction
• Mandatory big game animal checks
• Operating and maintaining vehicles, trailers, weed spraying equipment, All Terrain Vehicles (ATV’s), Skid steers, excavators, tractors, power tools, and chainsaws
• Handling animal carcasses
• Data recording and record keeping
• Interacting with and answering questions from hunters and anglers
• Auxiliary support for District Wildlife Managers, Biologists, and other Property Technicians with wildlife management tasks

• BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be 16 years of age or older
• Must have a current & valid drivers' license or reliable transportation
• The work-site will provide some uniform items, however the employee may be required to purchase limited uniform items at their own expense
• Applicants may be subject to successful completion of a comprehensive background check
• Must be willing and able to work 40 hours per week
• Must be available to work varied shifts (please provide additional details if known)
• Preference may be given to applicants with or working towards a Natural Resources degree or similar education
• Ability to work with limited supervision and work well within a team
• Must have ability to hike long distances with a pack
• Must have ability to accomplish physically demanding tasks
• Must possess a good attitude
• Must possess enthusiasm for protecting Colorado’s resources
• Must be willing and able to work outside which may involve inclement weather
• Must be able to lift 50-100 pounds repeatedly during the course of a workday
