TEMPORARY/INTERNSHIP Property Technician – Walden, CO

About the role

This is a temporary position (9 months or less) paying $16.00 per hour. Employment starts May 1, 2024, through November 30, 2024 (exact dates negotiable).

Responsibilities

• Noxious weed control
• Facility and equipment maintenance
• Fence repair and construction
• Mandatory big game animal checks
• Operating and maintaining vehicles, trailers, weed spraying equipment, All Terrain Vehicles (ATV’s), power tools, and chainsaws
• Handling animal carcasses
• Data recording and record keeping
• Interacting with and answering questions from hunters and anglers
• Auxiliary support to District Wildlife Managers, Biologists, and other Property Technicians with wildlife management related tasks

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Current & valid driver’s license for operating a state vehicle
• Work-site will provide some uniform items, however the employee may be required to purchase limited uniform items at their own expense
• Experience working with a variety of hand and power tools
• Vehicle/equipment/maintenance experience
• Ability to hike long distances with a pack
• Ability to accomplish physically demanding tasks
• Willingness and ability to work outside which may involve inclement weather
• Good attitude
• Enthusiasm for protecting Colorado’s resources
