Temporary FIU ASAS Security Monitor 2026-2027

About the role

The Community Engagement Department is seeking a Temporary FIU ASAS Security Monitor for the 2026-2027 academic year. The security monitor is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure learning environment on School Board property, preventing fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.

Responsibilities

• Follow the principal's direction on handling emergency situations.
• Monitor all radio communications.
• Report directly to assigned post and remain there except when responding to a necessary call for service.
• Assist the program manager with dismissal procedures, including buses.
• Maintain professionalism: be cooperative, courteous, firm when issuing directions, punctual, and wear the prescribed uniform.
• Assist in identifying students in violation of The Code of Student Conduct.
• Follow all instructions issued by the program manager.
• Request assistance immediately when faced with potentially dangerous situations.
• Assist staff, students, and visitors as needed.
• Recognize and report safety hazards or suspicious activity.
• Report observed violations of School Board rules, violations of law, medical emergencies, suspicious persons, smoke or fire, fire exit lighting issues, and unsafe conditions.
• Periodically patrol assigned school areas and grounds.
• Observe departing personnel to guard against theft of School Board property.
• Report property damage and unusual occurrences to the program manager.
• Check email daily.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One year of experience.

Qualifications

Preferred: Current Miami-Dade County Public School security officer or school employee.

Pay

$15.00 per hour.

Schedule

1:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
