Title: Temp Valets - On Call Employee Status: Temporary Part Time Work From Home Option: Not Applicable FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Job Overview The Temporary Valets will fill-in for absents valet and perform valet assigned jobs as needed. Essential Functions Ensure that the proper weights are assigned to each horse in each race.Bring the saddle to the paddockAssist the trainer in the saddling of the horseAfter the race assist the jockey in unsaddling the horseReturn the saddle to the jock's room after the saddle and the jockey are weighed by the clerk of scalesGenerally facilitate and expedite the functioning of the jockey's roomAssist the jockey in the upkeep/maintenance of their equipment and other matters Qualifications General horsemanshipKnowledge of racing Ability to work a racing schedule Ability to work in a fast-paced environment indoors and outdoors Summary Of Physical Requirements And Work Environment The Temporary Valet role requires frequent physical activity in a dynamic racing environment. Employees must be able to: Walk and stand for extended periods throughout racing operations.Frequently lift, carry, and transport saddles, equipment, and other racing-related materials, generally weighing up to 25-35 pounds.Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach while assisting with saddling, unsaddling, and maintaining jockey equipment.Safely work in close proximity to thoroughbred racehorses and demonstrate the physical agility necessary to move efficiently around horses, jockeys, trainers, and racing personnel.Maintain awareness and react appropriately in a fast-paced, safety-sensitive environment where horses and equipment are in motion.Ascend and descend stairs and navigate uneven walking surfaces commonly found in stable, paddock, and racing areas.Possess sufficient manual dexterity to handle saddles, racing equipment, weights, and other related materials accurately and efficiently. Pay Range / Salary: $18.75 per hour
