About the role

Operates a Teller window by providing prompt, efficient and accurate customer service, maintains security of a cash drawer, and represents the Bank in a courteous, professional manner. Alert to customer needs, cross-sells bank products, and refers customers to the appropriate staff.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a strict standard of confidentiality involving all transactions.
• Promote and maintain positive relations with all contacts, customers, and potential customers.
• Comply with all department and company policies and procedures.
• Contribute to the fulfillment of department and company objectives and goals.
• Perform as a team member in allocation and coordinating the work flow.
• May assist in training new employees and answer co-worker questions.
• Order, receive, verify, and distribute cash.
• Operate a teller window to serve the bank’s customers by:
  • Accepting retail and/or commercial deposits, verifying cash and endorsements, and giving customer receipts.
  • Examining cash carefully to guard against acceptance of counterfeit bills.
  • Identifying customers and cashing checks, or referring customers to an officer for authorization to cash checks.
  • Entering transactions into computer and issuing customer receipts.
  • Accepting savings deposits and withdrawals, verifying signatures.
  • Providing additional customer services including Official Checks, Personal Money Orders, Savings Bonds, and Stop Payments.
  • Balancing cash daily by counting cash at the beginning of shift and balancing cash and checks against computer records at the end of the shift.
  • Accepting payments for loans.
  • May be responsible for bank opening/closing under dual control.
  • May assist in operational and servicing needs of the ATMs.
  • May admit customers to safe deposit boxes.
  • Open and close vault under dual control; may assist in vault maintenance.
• Promote the bank’s products and services; consistently cross-sell bank products at every opportunity.
• Make a concentrated effort to solve customer problems.
• Observe suspicious behavior and report any such activity to head teller and/or security personnel as appropriate.
• In the event of a robbery, remain calm and follow bank procedures to safeguard customers and staff.
• Follow any other job-related instructions and perform other job-related duties as requested by management.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Basic Accounting knowledge.
• Bank experience not required but strongly preferred.
• 6 months of cash handling and balancing money transactions within prior four years.
• Strong communication skills in dealing with customers and employees.
• Satisfactory Credit Bureau and Background Check Report.
