Telephone Triage Registered Nurse

We are looking for Bilingual (French and English) Registered Nurses to provide telehealth triage and health information to patients across Ontario. This is a virtual position where you will practice from your home, providing high-quality assessment, comfort, and care through phone and other virtual channels.

About the role

This is a virtual position, allowing you to practice within your scope from your own home office during scheduled work hours. You will work shift work including evenings, overnight, and weekends, with a variety of scheduling rotation options to choose from (part-time, full-time, shift length). Rotations repeat for predictability, and you can trade shifts with or give them away to peers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties consistent with and within the scope of Registered Nursing practice, using a patient-centered, compassionate, and empathetic approach.
  • Exercise clinical judgment in combination with protocols to arrive at appropriate dispositions, providing timely and accurate care to patients.
  • Promptly complete confidential medical records as per documentation standards.
  • Use decision support software to guide clinical decisions while applying sound clinical judgment to make final recommendations to patients via virtually-enabled communication channels (e.g., phone, computer).
  • Communicate professionally, providing clear and concise information to patients and healthcare team members.
  • Participate in and complete ongoing trainings and continuous quality improvement projects as required.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Bilingual (French and English) with fluency in both oral and written skills.
  • Must reside in Ontario.
  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in recent triage and/or clinical experience in areas such as ER, mental health/psychiatry, behavioral health, ICU, or acute care.
  • Strong listening and assessment skills, with the ability to remain empathetic and calm in stressful or emotionally charged situations.
  • Exceptional customer service, communication, computer, and software skills.
  • Ability to self-direct, self-organize, and accurately record required information.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Well-developed customer service skills to effectively communicate with a diverse patient population.
  • This role is physically demanding, requiring hand, arm, and shoulder dexterity, sensory ability, and frequent movement (standing, sitting).

Pay

$35.00 - $39.00 per hour based on experience.
