Telecommunicator II
Description
The primary purpose of this position is to operate the Safety Operations Center effectively and efficiently 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Security Operations Center serves as a vital component of the hospital’s overall operational framework, acting as the central hub for communication and security management. The SOC plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, staff, and visitors, while facilitating the smooth flow of information throughout the facility.
- Collects, processes, prioritizes and disseminates information from and to multiple resources and agencies under stressful conditions.
- Dispatches calls for service for officer response, monitors security/panic/fire alarms, and infant protection systems.
- Colls pertinent data/information, determines and contacts appropriate responding units, enters/maintains calls in CAD database utilizing real time data entry, and provides responding officers with all necessary information.
- Maintains officer status through the duration of each call.
- Initiates emergency action plans in case of incident/accidents as directed by policy/requested by hospital staff.
- Provides essential answering services for UNC Nash Health providers and providers’ offices, collecting and recording essential information and ensuring that the information is transmitted to the appropriate person.
- Utilize mass communication systems to send out text blasts and alerts from administrative and clinical leaders; answers the code phones, send out overhead alerts/text blasts for codes, notify the fire department or other municipality as directed, and communicate with officers on two‑way radio system.

Education Requirements
Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED
Licensure/Certification Requirements
Licensure/Certification Requirements: Certification as a Division of Criminal Information computer operator. Basic Telecommunicator Certification in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission.
