Telecommunications Field Technician

About the role

Timmons Group is currently seeking a Telecommunications Field Technician to join our Telecommunications & MRE group located in Winchester, VA. The Telecommunications Field Technician will work with leading electrical and telecommunication companies to inspect assets and provide analysis of infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Collect GPS Positions, photos and attribute data for utility data related to electric and telecommunications assets in the field.
• Work outside independently in challenging conditions daily.
• Walk moderate distances carrying equipment.
• Engage property owners and discuss the data collection task and its necessity.
• Manage data files daily to ensure data integrity and data security.
• Interpret map information to determine the best approach to efficiently surveying project area.
• Meet or exceed overall quality control standards established by the client.
• Maintain equipment by caring for and providing basic troubleshooting.
• Work in an efficient manner while requiring limited supervision.
• Be responsible for basic maintenance and care for company vehicle.
• Work cooperatively with other GIS Field Surveyors, Field Supervisors and/or Project Managers to complete assigned work.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED.
• Working knowledge and experience with data conversion using ArcGIS, AutoCAD or Microstation.
• Ability to assist the Technical Analysts/project manager in researching and recommending new methods, equipment, or programs to better accomplish tasks.
• Good oral and written communications skills; ability to communicate technical information, ability to research, interpret and summarize data.
• Ability to lift and carry 20lbs across diverse terrain for long distances and in a variety of weather conditions.

Compensation

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position is $50,000-$55,000. Offers are based on a range of job-related factors such as internal equity, experience, skills, education, credentials and role complexity.
