Teen Program-Youth Development Professional I

About the role

Under the supervision of the Teen Director, the Youth Development Professional is responsible for assisting with developing, implementing, supervising, evaluating and monitoring programs for adolescents in middle school and high school. The program should be conducted in a professional manner, supportive of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate a well-rounded, well-organized teen program which encompasses all of the Core Program Areas and follows the Youth Development Strategy and is designed to meet the objectives set by the incumbent and the Teen Director.
• Aid in the planning, implementation and evaluation of teen programs.
• Aid in the development, promotion and participation in teen programming with priority being given to School District students.
• Aid in the supervision of volunteers for teen programming.
• Aid in planning and operating club-wide activities.
• Aid in the guidance and discipline of club members.
• Aid in the financial development of the teen department.
• Assure that administrative duties are completed in a timely manner.
• Assure that the teen area equipment and area is maintained for safety.
• Aid in developing a positive identity for the Boys & Girls Clubs in the community.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Minimum requirement of a High School Diploma with 5 years' experience working with Middle School and High School students. Preferably bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Competencies/Skills/Experience

• Demonstrated ability to organize and operate programming for youth in Middle School and in High School.
• Demonstrated verbal and written competency.

Working Conditions

• Frequently lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 25 pounds when preparing rooms for activities.
• Typically bends, stoops, walks and sometimes runs on a regular basis while interacting with children in various activities throughout the day.
• Ability to perform duties effectively under stressful conditions; ability to make decisions quickly and accurately with tact and impartiality.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Pay Range

$17.00 - $18.50 per hour
