About the Role

The Technology Specialist supports school-based technology use by students and staff in alignment with the District’s Instructional Initiatives. The Bellevue School District values a diverse workforce and models cultural competency as an international community.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and assists with the installation of computers and related equipment in assigned schools; loads and upgrades software.
  • Configures and installs computers in both stand-alone and networked environments.
  • Conducts first-line troubleshooting of computers and peripherals for staff and students.
  • Maintains building inventory of computers, software, peripherals, and related equipment; conducts annual physical inventory and updates the database.
  • Checks out equipment to staff as needed.
  • Troubleshoots hardware and software problems in computer labs and classrooms; arranges repairs and performs basic hardware maintenance.
  • Provides basic computer support and training to staff and students, including operational skills.
  • Maintains knowledge of hardware and software; makes recommendations as appropriate.
  • Serves on school or district technology committees; participates in district-level training sessions.
  • Assists in coordinating school-wide collection and distribution of student laptops.
  • Manages technology-related equipment such as sound and lighting in performing arts centers or school media venues.
  • Provides individual or small-group training for teachers when necessary.
  • Monitors and assigns work to student help desk or tech teams.
  • Moves equipment and assists teachers with setup.
  • Communicates technology updates to staff regarding new equipment or software.
  • Monitors computer use and assists students with class projects during open class, lunchtime, and before/after school.
  • Performs data entry and other job-related duties as assigned.

Reports to the Technology Field Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • One year of experience supporting users in the use of computers, peripherals, and software.

Knowledge

  • Hardware and peripherals.
  • Microsoft operating systems, printer configuration, and general-purpose software (word processing, database management, desktop publishing, spreadsheets, and communications).
  • Setup and operation of computers.

Physical Requirements

  • Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
  • Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly.
  • May work outdoors in inclement weather and navigate school campuses, including stairs and indoor/outdoor areas.
  • Required to stand for prolonged periods (30+ minutes).
  • Exposed to ordinary infectious diseases carried by students.
  • Requires precise control of fingers and hand movements, as well as fine visual detail.

Pay

Starting pay range: $36.36/hour to $38.31/hour (starting rate is $36.36).

Schedule

40 hours per week for a 198-day annual assignment.
