We are seeking a Technology Consultant with experience in Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) and healthcare interoperability to support the design, implementation, and integration of modern healthcare data exchange solutions. The ideal candidate will work closely with clients, business stakeholders, and technical teams to deliver secure, scalable, and standards-based integrations that enable seamless exchange of healthcare information across clinical and enterprise systems. This role combines consulting, solution design, and hands-on technical implementation, helping healthcare organizations modernize legacy systems and improve interoperability using HL7 FHIR standards. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with clients to gather business and technical requirements related to healthcare interoperabilityDesign and implement HL7 FHIR-based integration solutions between healthcare applications and enterprise platformsDevelop, configure, and consume RESTful APIs supporting FHIR resources and healthcare data exchangeConfigure and integrate FHIR resources such as Patient, Practitioner, Encounter, Observation, Medication, Allergy Intolerance, Condition, Procedure, and Care PlanDesign data mappings between legacy healthcare systems and FHIR resourcesDevelop and validate JSON and XML payloads used for FHIR messagingSupport interoperability initiatives involving Electronic Health Records (EHRs), Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), Health Information Exchanges (HIEs), payer systems, and third-party healthcare applicationsTroubleshoot API integrations, data quality issues, and interoperability challengesParticipate in solution architecture, technical design reviews, testing, deployment, and production supportDocument solution designs, integration specifications, API documentation, and technical proceduresProvide best practice recommendations related to FHIR implementation, healthcare interoperability, security, and scalabilityWork collaboratively within cross-functional consulting teams while communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Required Skills: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, Engineering, or a related fieldExperience implementing healthcare integration solutions using HL7 FHIRExperience working with RESTful APIs and web servicesExperience working with JSON and/or XML data formatsUnderstanding of healthcare interoperability concepts and standardsExperience integrating clinical or healthcare information systemsKnowledge of API authentication methods such as OAuth 2.0 and SMART on FHIR is preferredStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Experience: HL7 Version 2.x or CDA experienceExperience integrating with Epic, Cerner/Oracle Health, MEDITECH, Allscripts, or other EHR platformsExperience with healthcare integration engines such as Mirth Connect (NextGen Connect), Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, or similar middlewareExperience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google CloudKnowledge of healthcare privacy and security regulations including HIPAAExperience with Agile software delivery methodologies Technical Skills: HL7 FHIRREST APIsJSONXMLHTTP/HTTPSOAuth 2.0SMART on FHIR (preferred)API Testing (Postman or similar)SQLGitAzure DevOps, Jira, or similar tools Desired Consulting Skills: Requirements gathering and stakeholder engagementBusiness process analysisSolution design and architectureTechnical documentationClient presentations and workshopsCross-functional collaborationIssue resolution and production support Preferred Industry Experience: Healthcare ProvidersHospitals and Health SystemsHealth Insurance/PayersHealthcare Technology VendorsDigital Health OrganizationsGovernment Healthcare Agencies What You'll Help Clients Achieve: Improve interoperability between healthcare systemsModernize legacy healthcare applicationsEnable secure, real-time patient data exchangeAccelerate integration with Electronic Health Records (EHRs)Improve data accessibility and qualitySupport regulatory compliance and interoperability initiativesBuild scalable, standards-based healthcare integration solutions using HL7 FHIRMust be able to work in the US with sponsorshipThis is a remote positionM&S Consulting proactively fulfills its role as an equal opportunity employer.
