Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks and replacements, filter replacements, and other preventive measures to ensure the fleet's overall health.
- Utilize diagnostic equipment and tools to identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues in vehicles. Analyze error codes and symptoms to pinpoint the root causes of problems.
- Repair or replace faulty components, including brakes, suspension systems, exhaust systems, electrical systems, and drivetrains. Ensure repairs are performed accurately and efficiently.
- Investigate and troubleshoot complex vehicle issues by analyzing symptoms, conducting tests, and researching technical manuals. Develop effective solutions to restore vehicle functionality.
- Keep up-to-date with manufacturer recalls and warranty information. Coordinate with relevant parties to address any recalls or warranty-related repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, repairs, parts used, and services performed. Enter data into electronic databases or maintenance software.
- Ensure that all repaired vehicles meet safety standards and regulations. Perform thorough safety checks after repairs to prevent any potential hazards.
- Order, track, and manage inventory of replacement parts and supplies. Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely availability of required parts.
- Work collaboratively with other technicians, lead technicians, and supervisors to share knowledge, discuss complex issues, and solve problems collectively.
- Stay updated on the latest automotive technologies, repair techniques, and industry trends through continuous learning. Attend workshops, training sessions, and certification programs as required.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship and ensure that repairs and maintenance are performed to the highest quality to minimize rework and maximize vehicle reliability.
- Respond promptly to emergency repair requests to minimize downtime and ensure operational readiness of the fleet.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in automotive/diesel technology is preferred.
- 2+ years of experience as an automotive/Diesel technician or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle issues.
- Knowledge of automotive systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, HVAC, and suspension.
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools, software, and equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- ASE certifications or equivalent are a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to pass post-offer drug screening, physical examination (including a lift test), and background check.
