Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service.
  • Visually inspect, test, and listen to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.
  • Discuss machine operation variations with customers to diagnose problems and repair machines.
  • Dismantle machine parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
  • Remove and replace worn or defective parts.
  • Install new or repaired parts; clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, belts, and other parts of machinery.
  • Realign and adjust components such as spindles and clutches.
  • Install and repair electronic components of machinery or equipment.
  • Start machines and equipment to test proper operation following repair.
  • Organize and plan follow-up repairs with dispatcher when all ordered parts have been received.
  • Coordinate scheduled repairs and preventive maintenance (PMs) at similar locations on the same day, as time and location permit.
  • Organize new service requests with dispatcher in the same working area, as time permits.
  • Complete timecards accurately and thoroughly throughout the day.
  • Responsible for record keeping and reporting of work orders, parts, supplies ordering, and daily agenda.
  • Complete work orders, submit parts orders, and all required paperwork through tech portal/ERP system while at each location.
  • Organize parts received for van stock and follow up on customer repairs.
  • Work efficiently with dispatcher for the most productive route each day.
  • Treat company equipment (e.g., vehicle, tools, phone, fax, credit card, and parts) as if they were your own and follow PM guidelines on company-provided vehicle.
  • Perform additional duties and tasks as deemed necessary by a supervisor from time to time.
  • Work safely in different types of environments, always prioritizing safety.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); good mechanical aptitude/skills.
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who operates within the framework of each customer’s business structure.
  • Good driving record.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Excellent time-management skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Detail-oriented with strong listening skills.
  • Determination to manage your own workload.
  • Skilled in the use of hand and mechanical tools.
  • Owns or can purchase/borrow basic standard and metric mechanical tools, gear puller, and a three-drawer tool chest.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality; monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Excellent attendance and responsiveness to service requests in a timely manner with a high sense of urgency.
  • Follows instructions and responds to management direction.
  • Takes responsibility for own actions.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving skills; must meet all state and federal regulations at all times.

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally required to drive long hours.
  • Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Grease Tank Installers must be able to move tanks up to 400 lbs with a hand truck/dolly.
  • Grease tank installers must be able to work on a ladder running overhead piping.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Travel up to an average of 300 miles per day.
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.

Pay

Income is based on an hourly pay structure, with a ½ hour start-of-day and end-of-day reduction for commute time.
