About the role
The Engineering Technician II plays a crucial role in the First Solar Team, focusing on reliability operations such as module testing and qualification, ensuring products meet industry standards and warranties.
Responsibilities
- Able to work independently with less supervision.
- Support Engineer on improvement projects on both product and testing equipment.
- Solve day-to-day equipment issues.
- Prepare and update summary reports for reliability investigations and test metrics.
- Develop and update internal documentation including drawings, work instructions, and equipment specs.
- Aid in worldwide equipment and test method replication.
- Ensure reliability tests are completed on schedule, including sample acquisition, testing, and data entry.
- Perform intermediate data analysis using JMP and SQL applications.
- Communicate any abnormal findings promptly.
- Train new technicians in module testing, equipment operation, and troubleshooting.
- Perform baseline or post-test measurements as needed.
- Participate in Durability & Stability meetings and present data (when required).
- Follow safety procedures and maintain good housekeeping standards.
- Assist with other tasks assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- Proven communications and attention to detail skills.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Electrical preferred) with 2+ years of work experience in a manufacturing or lab environment, or Associate Degree with 4+ years of experience.
- Calibration/testing/measurement experience required.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of JMP and SQL applications.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Ability to operate a fork lift.
Qualifications
- Education and experience as outlined in the job description.
- Proven basic data analysis skills.
- Average to excellent computer skills (Word, Excel).
- Good team player.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of tools and operating equipment (micrometers, multi-meters, power supplies, data logger).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
- Will walk, climb stairs, reach overhead, bend, talk, and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required.
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to wear a respirator as required.
