Technician - Lines (Western District) (Transmission OandM Department)
PowerSouth Energy Cooperative, headquartered in Andalusia, AL, is a generation and transmission (G&T) electric cooperative serving 22 distribution members across 51 counties in Alabama and 10 counties in Florida.
About the role
The purpose of this position is to perform maintenance and construction of transmission lines. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and demonstrate potential for success in the Technician - Lines Training program through an aptitude-based placement exercise and a behaviorally-based structured interview.
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within eighteen months (must be 21 years of age to obtain CDL). Candidates must be capable of performing maintenance and repair work on transmission line facilities, including climbing transmission structures and performing tasks while on the structure.
Responsibilities
- Participate in performing all necessary routine maintenance and repair work on transmission line facilities, including those which require climbing.
- Operate heavy equipment such as road tractors, digger derricks, and bucket trucks in a competent manner, including vehicle transport equipment.
- Perform general maintenance on transmission line rights of way, including removing dangerous trees, clearing brush, and trimming trees.
- Perform inspections on transmission facilities.
