Position Summary

This position is responsible for ensuring all sanitation and cleaning procedures meet regulatory and company standards to maintain a safe and hygienic food manufacturing environment. This role supports both the Quality Assurance and Sanitation teams by verifying that all equipment, utensils, and production areas are properly cleaned and sanitized prior to the start of operations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Verify proper cleaning and sanitizing of equipment, tools, and production areas prior to startup.
  • Conduct routine sanitation inspections and swab testing as required.
  • Monitor and enforce GMP and food safety compliance during and after sanitation activities.
  • Document and report sanitation findings, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
  • Aid in the development and training of sanitation procedures and protocols.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions related to sanitation or food safety concerns.
  • Communicate effectively with sanitation, QA, and production teams to ensure seamless transitions between sanitation and production.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of sanitation verification and validations.
  • Participate in internal audits and support third-party inspections as needed.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and wear the required PPE.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional training in food safety or sanitation preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in food manufacturing or sanitation (QA experience a plus).
  • Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, and food safety regulations.
  • Strong observational and documentation skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.

  • Must be able to move equipment weighing more than 50 lbs. with team assistance.
  • Must be able to tolerate working in humid, cool, hot, or wet environments for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work overnight or on off-shifts as required by operational needs.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. independently.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl.
  • Standing for 8–10 hours per day, excluding designated breaks.
  • Lift and/or move up to 15 lbs.; occasionally lift and/or move more than 40 lbs.
