Summary Spire is seeking a Technician I, Field Operations to work in Rolla, Missouri and various Eastern Missouri Counties. This position will primarily be responsible for maintaining the MoGas compressor station facilities while also performing field operations and maintenance (O&M) related tasks on Spire Midstream pipeline facilities to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of natural gas across the system in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and company O&M procedures. Duties and Responsibilities Construct, test, alter or improve diverse piping, valves, and machinery componentOperate all machine shop and automatic equipment when requiredInspect and maintain all facility equipmentPerform preventative maintenance on rotating equipmentInstall and repair all plant and station equipmentPerform cathodic protection and test station readsPerform leak surveys and right-of-way patrolsMonitor the pipeline right-of-way for encroachments and environmental conditions (e.g. erosion, slope failure)Monitor and respond to abnormal operating conditionsMaintain pipeline markers and manage pipeline marker inventoryMaintain and repair pipeline test stationsMaintain and repair various pipeline equipmentPerform all emergent and non-emergent locate requests in Illinois and MissouriCoordinate with contractors as it pertains to work on or near the pipeline right of way and facilitiesDocument company and contractor field work with photographs and inspection reportsEvaluate and document condition of external pipeline coatingComplete necessary paperwork and/or data entry, via computer, for Payroll, Engineering, Compliance, Claims, Safety and othersRegularly uses the technologies used within the field operations department to validate workMaintain Operator Qualifications related to job dutiesBe available for weekend and after hour responsibilities as required by work being performedAll other duties as assigned Essential Characteristics Supervisory Responsibilities No direct reports Required Education (certifications, licenses) High School diploma/GEDClass E Chauffer’s license Required Knowledge, Skill And Abilities 0-4 years of experience of gas storage/energy industry preferredPrevious experience in gas plant maintenance or mechanical background preferredRead, understand, and use precision measurement equipmentAbility to read and understand P&IDs and flow diagramsFamiliarity with pumps and compressorsAbility to work outside in all weather conditionsMust be able to respond to abnormal operating conditions and emergent one calls within two hours from home Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Physical demands, environment and schedule Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. over headAbility to safely traverse uneven terrainA mix of normal office conditions and outdoors in all weather conditions and in areas exposed to loud audible noisesAbnormal working hours required as dictated by contractor workOne week of on-call required every two to four weeksTravels to all areas of the pipeline right-of-way Posting Requirements We accept online applications through our career site at jobs.spireenergy.com Disclaimer: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature of the level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
