Technician, Field IV

About the role

The Field Technician will be based inside an automotive repair shop and perform diagnostic scans and calibrations as well as assisting with virtual diagnostic scans and calibrations. This position will consult with the shop(s) and promote Repairify as it relates to diagnostics and calibrations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary client contact as needed within the service process.
• Promote the necessity for diagnostic and calibrations at the assigned shop.
• Perform precise calibrations for all types of Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) across most vehicle makes and models.
• Utilize various OEM tools and diagnostic equipment to make effective repair and calibration recommendations on multiple makes and models.
• Perform pre‑ and post‑vehicle calibration documentation and prepare report paperwork for customers.
• Read and understand measurements in both standard and metric units.
• Perform basic R/I procedures to access sensors and control modules.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert and explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non‑mechanical individuals consistently.
• Evaluate information and data to provide comprehensive interpretation of technical information, electrical components, and ADAS.
• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques via e‑learning or other training sessions to stay current with rapidly changing automotive technology.
• Drive customer or company vehicles for delivery, testing, or calibration purposes.
• Leverage knowledge of repair facilities, body shops, and insurance carriers to facilitate effective working relationships.
• Collaborate with other technicians to perform in‑depth diagnostic test plans.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety, and environmental rules.

Minimum Qualifications

• 2–5 years of car dealership experience OR experience in an aftermarket repair facility as an Automotive Technician.
• OEM scan tool and/or aftermarket scan tool experience and knowledge.
• Proficient in identification of faults, error messages, and modules.
• Strong automotive mechanical and electrical diagnosis, problem‑solving, and repair experience.
• Proficient understanding of automotive industry terminology and manufacturer acronyms.
• Current, valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical College graduate in an automotive field or equivalent.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Company‑designated certifications such as ASE, I‑Car, MECP.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

The role operates inside automotive repair shop environments that may be cold, hot, noisy, wet, and may contain fumes or odors from vehicle maintenance.

• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds independently, primarily from knee to shoulder height, with occasional lifts from various levels.
• Must be able to carry and transport up to 75 pounds up to 20 feet.
• Requires standing for extended periods with frequent stretching, reaching, walking, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
• Requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity.
• Use of safety equipment such as face shield or goggles, non‑slip shoes, gloves, mask, and other protective garments may be required.
• Frequent driving and some typing are required; visual acuity to operate motor vehicles is necessary.

Travel

Some travel within the assigned geographic area is expected.
