About the role

Responsible for the operation of a department. Performs additional job-related responsibilities and duties as assigned and/or necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and executes budgets by developing cost estimates on requested and planned projects.
  • Approves purchases of parts, materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Provides technical assistance and consultation to facilitate purchases.
  • Verifies receipt and acceptance of purchases.
  • Manages internal scheduled projects by determining work assignment priority, planning work assignments, and developing and maintaining workforce needs.
  • Creates punch lists to document discrepancies and ensures the completion of projects and assignments.
  • Sources, verifies, and approves material requisitions.
  • Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Ensures compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and guidelines.
  • Controls company costs by conducting price comparisons of parts, equipment, and travel-related expenditures, and submitting warranty claims.
  • Completes and submits forms (e.g., expense vouchers, weekly summaries, work orders) to appropriate leadership and Home Office associates.
  • Leads third-party providers by coaching and conducting performance evaluations, and develops and directs quality assurance inspections.
  • Troubleshoots and provides customer service by communicating with facility users to assess and resolve customer problems and complaints.
  • Ensures work environments are maintained according to Walmart policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates current and future landscaping replacement needs (e.g., mulch, rock, trees, shrubs, sod).
  • Implements upgrades to convert facilities into sustainable units and assesses potential improvements to lower operating costs.
  • Coordinates with Home Office support to standardize equipment and reduce on-hand stock.
  • Sources tools and equipment to perform repairs and ensures completed work meets quality and safety requirements.
  • Performs seasonal exterior maintenance activities, interior case cleaning on a seasonal schedule, and shopping cart preventive maintenance and service.
  • Performs general maintenance, including snow and ice management, by operating snow removal equipment, applying de-icing materials, clearing walkways, drives, and exterior areas, and supporting winter preparedness and response activities.
  • Maintains vehicles in working mechanical (basic maintenance) and cleanliness condition, coordinates and takes vehicles for required maintenance, and ensures alternate driving support is arranged.
  • Safely operates motor vehicles and ensures vehicles have all required documents, checks fuel and water levels, brake condition, signals, and lights.
  • Submits maintenance invoices for payment and verifies the coverage and validity of vehicle insurance.
  • Wears company uniform and badge according to company policies and procedures.
  • Operates, inspects, and maneuvers heavy machinery and powered equipment (e.g., forklifts, material handling equipment, industrial machines, shop equipment, vehicles) in accordance with training, certification requirements, and safety procedures.
  • Performs pre-operation safety checks and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment is safe, functional, and compliant with applicable standards.
  • Identifies unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or potential hazards and takes appropriate corrective action or escalates as required.
  • Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Completes work assignments and priorities by collaborating with managers, co-workers, customers, and other business partners.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 years' experience in the landscaping/gardening industry.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maintenance, Construction Management, or related area.
  • Experience in third-party management.
  • Experience using intermediate-level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • State/local licensing where required (e.g., Florida, Texas, California).

Pay

The hourly wage range for this position is $19.00 - $35.00. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
