About the Role

The FE Technician supports Facilities Engineers in completing projects across various roles. After receiving general instructions, the FE Technician must be self-managed in accomplishing tasks. Responsibilities include heavy reconnaissance work on-site, in the plant, and in the office, such as vetting CAD drawings for dimensions and accuracy, moving materials with a forklift or pallet jack, vertical lift work, and light assembly of fixtures and furniture. The role also involves meeting and proposal work, including note-taking and presentation tasks, as well as small projects for growth.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and utilities).
  • Respond to work orders and troubleshoot basic-to-intermediate system issues.
  • Escalate complex problems to Facilities Engineers or senior technicians.
  • Support equipment uptime and assist with minimizing operational disruptions.
  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance tasks per established schedules.
  • Accurately document maintenance activities in CMMS (e.g., SAP).
  • Identify early signs of equipment failure and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist Facilities Engineers with small projects, upgrades, and installations.
  • Support contractor activities, including site access, coordination, and oversight.
  • Help track project tasks, timelines, and materials.
  • Assist with updating facility layouts, equipment locations, and utility drawings using CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD).
  • Maintain accurate documentation of as-built conditions and system changes.
  • Support drawing revisions and ensure documentation reflects field conditions.
  • Follow all safety procedures and support OSHA and environmental compliance.
  • Participate in safety audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Work with internal teams and external service providers to complete assigned tasks.
  • Communicate status updates on work orders and maintenance activities.
  • Support cross-functional coordination with operations and engineering teams.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of technician work experience.
  • 1+ years of forklift experience strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be eligible to be forklift certified in-house within 90 days.
  • Ability to pass forklift/lift equipment training classes.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely as well as lifts once certified.
  • Ability to pick up and deliver MRO items ordered by the department.

Skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and surroundings, critical for vetting CAD drawings against existing conditions.
  • Basic computer skills, including data entry.
  • Moderately skilled with basic hand tools and measuring devices.
  • Plumbing or electrical experience is an advantage but not immediately required.
  • Ability to understand and follow work instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Dependable, works well in a team environment, and establishes positive working relationships with employees and customers.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 lbs or lift lighter items repetitively.
  • Ability to perform 2-man lifts for heavier items.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.
