Technician, EEG Float

Provide diagnostic Electroencephalogram services in a hospital or clinic setting, including EEG record documentation, technical descriptions of EEG recordings, patient history, and communication with Neurologists. Perform clerical duties and maintain team-oriented operations reflecting the KPNW mission and philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic EEG procedures (routine, urgent, emergent, and portable) according to department policies and patient age requirements.
• Conduct technically difficult exams using available resources to ensure satisfactory completion.
• Prepare patients for examinations and perform record processing, reception, filing, and clerical functions using a computer.
• Restock supplies and maintain cleanliness of the work area.
• Demonstrate customer-focused service skills and adaptability to scheduling needs, including vacation coverage, after-hours call, and floating to regional sites.
• Take rotational call for STAT EEGs during weeknights and weekends.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED).
• Basic Life Support certification within 1 month of hire.
• Registered EEG Technologist Certificate within 24 months of hire from the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists.
• Basic typing skills.
• Completion of an ASET-approved program or a formal Electroneurodiagnostic training program and/or prior EEG work experience.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, and cover multiple locations as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of online EEG classes with adequate testing and/or on-the-job training within two years.
• Seizure pattern recognition, classifications of seizures, and mental status evaluations.
• Ability to discriminate between epileptic and non-epileptic seizures and status epilepticus.
• Knowledge of neuroanatomy, cranial nerves, and blood supply.
• Proficiency in basic medical terminology and describing EEG activity with appropriate terminology.
• Strong organizational, time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with adult, pediatric, and bedside EEGs.
• Ability to accurately measure and place electrodes using the International 10-20 System.
• Understanding of filters, impedance, sensitivity, time constant calibration, and montages.
• Experience in related diagnostic fields is advantageous.

Pay

$35.93 - $52.69 per hour.

Schedule

• Part-time, 24 hours per week.
• Variable shift: Monday–Sunday, 07:00 AM–09:30 PM.
• Travel required: 50% of the time to support Sunnyside Medical Center, Westside Medical Center, and Mt. Talbert Medical Offices.
