About the role
The Technician 2, HVAC is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems/equipment. This role ensures these systems meet the stringent requirements of pharmaceutical manufacturing and storage environments.
Responsibilities
- Performs routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance of the site’s heating, ventilation, air condition and refrigeration systems and equipment with limited supervision.
- Reports complex HVAC issues to senior technicians, management, or plant engineering.
- Oversees the installation of equipment, as required.
- Supports site operations and emergency work orders during off-hours, as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2-4 years of experience in HVAC maintenance and repairs.
- Completion of an apprenticeship program or vocational training in HVAC.
- Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certification (EPA 608 Certification).
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in mechanical, electrical, applied engineering or another relevant field.
- Prior experience with industrial HVAC systems.
- Prior experience working in a GMP manufacturing environment.
- Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or equivalent work order management experience.
- Experience with troubleshooting and repairing refrigerant systems, and testing and certifying HEPA filters.
- AC/Refrigeration Certification.
Physical Requirements
- Will work in environment which may necessitate respiratory protection.
- May work in Mechanical/Production spaces that may require hearing protection and enrollment in a hearing conservation program.
- Will work in environment operating a motor vehicle or Powered Industrial Truck.
- Ability to discern audible cues.
- Ability to inspect or perform a task with 20/20 corrected vision, visual acuity, including distinguishing color.
- Ability to ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding, ramps, etc…
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, up to 12 hours.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time, up to 12 hours.
- Ability to conduct activities using repetitive motions that include writs, hands and/or fingers.
- Ability to conduct work that includes moving objects up to 33 lbs.
- Ability to bend, push or pull, reach to retrieve materials from 18” to 60” in height, and use twisting motions.
- Will work in warm/cold environments ranging from 0-110 F.
- Will work in outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
- Will work in small and/or enclosed spaces.
- Will work in heights greater than 4 feet.
