About the role
South Western Communications (SWC) is a trusted provider of communication, physical security, and life-safety solutions for Healthcare, Education, Detention, and Commercial customers. We use a consultative approach to conduct in-depth needs analysis and deliver integrated solutions using best-in-class products tailored to each customer’s goals and needs.
Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain electronic communication systems, including VOIP, SIP, computer, and networking systems.
- Perform final hookup and programming of electronics equipment for new installations.
- Respond promptly to customer service-related issues and communicate system performance to customers.
- Test and document system readings; update customer files.
- Troubleshoot and repair electronic components.
- Handle on-call duties on a regularly scheduled basis.
- Train and instruct customers on proper equipment use.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
- Operate test equipment: Volt Meter, Ohm Meter, Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, Multimeter, and Impedance Meter.
- Assist with preventive maintenance of customer equipment.
- Accurately track time sheets, service/installation tickets, and inventory items.
- Comply fully with company and customer safety programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by company management.
Requirements
- Two-year electronics degree or equivalent combination of education and 1–3 years of related field experience.
- Working knowledge of communications systems; experience with VoIP, telephony, data networks, wireless data, fire alarm, CCTV, sound systems, or nurse call applications preferred.
- Cisco and Microsoft certifications desirable.
- High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read and write at basic English proficiency and perform basic math functions.
- Ability to read CAD-generated prints, building blueprints, and riser diagrams.
- Solid grasp of basic electronics/electrical theory; formal instruction preferred.
- Proficient with PCs and demonstrated aptitude in simple engineering and construction.
- Valid and current driver’s license.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Associate’s Degree in Electronics, IT, or Computer Programming.
- Preferred certifications: NSCA CEST, NICET, RCDD, and factory training.

Travel
Some out-of-town travel may be required.
Physical, Mental, and Environmental Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, sit, and use hands and fingers.
- Light lifting of objects up to 50 lbs.
- Reaching, grasping, and carrying activities required.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment; occasional outdoor work subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations.
