Technical Writing Intern

The Technical Writing internship at Miller Electric provides hands‑on exposure to the tools and processes of technical documentation.

Essential Functions

• Create and update owner’s manuals and other technical documentation.
• Work with engineers and subject‑matter experts to understand a product or procedure.
• Optimize documents for print and electronic publication.
• Create and modify technical illustrations.
• Prepare markups for translation and participate in a translation project with our vendor.
• Manage document data for upload and reuse to serve internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• Student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Technical or Professional Writing, English, or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to supply a writing sample.
• Proficient in a Windows and Microsoft environment.
• Familiarity with desktop publishing, structured authoring (XML), and technical illustration software preferred.
• Able to work independently, prioritize and manage multiple tasks, and proactively suggest process improvements.
• Familiarity with welding and basic electricity preferred, but not required.
