Technical Writer Intern

Quanex is looking for a Technical Writer Intern to join our team this summer in Allentown, PA. The Technical Writer Intern will support documentation, process standardization, and communication efforts within our manufacturing operations. This role will work closely with engineering, production, quality, maintenance, and safety teams to create and maintain clear, accurate, and user-friendly technical documentation for plant operations. What Success Looks Like Create, edit, and maintain:Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Work instructionsEquipment manualsSafety documentationTraining materialsProcess flow diagrams and visual aidsCollaborate with engineers, supervisors, operators, and quality personnel to gather technical informationObserve manufacturing processes on the production floor to accurately document procedures and workflowsConvert complex technical information into clear and concise instructions for plant personnelUpdate existing documents to reflect process, equipment, or compliance changesAssist with document control and revision trackingSupport continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives through improved documentation and process clarity Your Credentials Currently pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Technology, Communications, or a related fieldStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent attention to detail and organization skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts clearlyComfortable working in a manufacturing or industrial environment Interns hired into this position can expect an hourly rate between $20.00 and $24.00 while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
