About the role

TASK designs and develops enterprise Point-of-Sale and customer engagement platforms for the global hospitality and retail industry. The Technical Writer plays a critical role in ensuring that complex product and platform knowledge is translated into clear, accurate, and accessible documentation for both internal teams and external customers.

The Technical Writer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and continuously improving the quality of TASK's technical documentation. This involves collaborating with Engineering, Product, Support, and Customer Success teams to identify documentation needs, close knowledge gaps, and champion effective knowledge management practices across the business.

Position Location: Sydney - Mona Vale - Northern Beaches

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in a technical writing or digital documentation role, ideally with some programming or technical background.
  • A thirst for knowledge with the ability and appetite to upskill across different technologies and methodologies.
  • Strong team orientation with excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to independently research complex technical topics and produce high-quality, audience-appropriate content.
  • Proactive approach to identifying gaps in documentation and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated track record of taking ownership of projects from inception through to completion.
  • Familiarity with documentation and collaboration tools such as Confluence, Git, Markdown, or XML-based editors.
  • Ability to work comfortably with both technical (engineering, QA) and non-technical (sales, operations, customers) audiences.
  • Agile mindset — comfortable adapting to shifting priorities, release cycles, and cross-functional feedback.
  • Excellent written and spoken English with meticulous attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Strong ability to organise, structure, and assess documentation against live product functionality.

What you will be doing

  • Identifying and prioritising documentation gaps based on user needs, product releases, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Determining what to include or exclude in documentation based on audience requirements and product scope.
  • Selecting and recommending documentation tools, content management systems, and publishing methods.
  • Establishing quality assurance processes and deciding when documentation meets the bar for release.
  • Deciding when to involve subject matter experts (SMEs) or escalate to the VP of Operations & Customer Success.
  • Determining review and update cadences to keep documentation relevant across product versions.
  • Structuring content architecture for ease of navigation, retrieval, and long-term maintainability.

Interview Process

  • Interview #1: Phone call with Talent Acquisition Team
  • Interview #2: Video interview with the Hiring Manager (via MS Teams)
