The Technical Support Tech position at our client's top Fortune company in Herndon, VA (on-site) is currently open. The pay rate ranges from $28/hour to $35/hour on a W2 basis, depending on experience. The contract is 5 months, with a strong possibility of extension or conversion.
Responsibilities
- Supports end users on a variety of issues.
- Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems.
- Responds to telephone calls, email, and personnel requests for technical support.
- Documents, tracks, and monitors problems to ensure timely resolution.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience supporting Windows, Mac, and/or Linux operating systems in a corporate setting.
- A high school diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of experience in a helpdesk or desk-side environment.
- Associate's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
- Works under immediate supervision.
- Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
Candidate Requirements
- Must have hard skills: computer skills (MS), execute existing processes, and handle ticket resolution.
- Nice to have: long-term vision with the company, quick contribution to established processes, and ability to explain complex IT concepts in simple terms.
Basic Qualifications
- Associate in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in helpdesk or desk-side environment.
- Experience in Windows, Mac OS environments.
- Strong verbal skills with proven ability to communicate with technical and non-technical staff.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Display a commitment to quality and strong multi-tasking skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT-related field.
- Advanced Linux systems administration skills.
- Strong troubleshooting skills of very complex systems.
- ITIL Foundation Certification.
