Technical Specialist-Emergency Lighting

This isn’t a traditional sales support position—and it’s not a pure engineering role either. This role sits at the intersection of: Electrical systems, Life safety compliance, Real-world application. You will take electrical designs, specifications, and intent—and turn them into code-compliant, buildable, real-world solutions that perform when it matters most. What You’ll Do
Translate Design into Reality
Develop accurate, timely, and technically sound quotations from electrical drawings and specifications
Interpret one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and system intent to define scope and performance
Own the Application
Evaluate how systems perform under normal and emergency power conditions
Apply and ensure compliance with NFPA, NEC, IBC, UL 924, and related standards
Identify design gaps, inconsistencies, and potential compliance risks early
Be the Technical Bridge
Work closely with sales, engineering, and customers to clarify requirements and align solutions
Translate technical concepts into practical, real-world applications
Support customer-facing technical discussions when needed (no selling required)
Solve Real Problems
Provide application-level technical support and troubleshooting
Own issues through resolution—partnering across teams to get it done
Ensure final solutions are accurate, functional, and aligned with project intent
What You Bring
Required:
- 3+ years in electrical, lighting, or technical applications (or similar environment)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications
- Familiarity with electrical systems, circuitry, and power distribution
- Working knowledge of NFPA, NEC, IBC
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Clear, confident communication—technical and practical
PREFERRED:
- Experience with emergency lighting systems, inverters, or transfer devices
- Familiarity with lighting control systems behavior
- Experience supporting engineers, contractors, or distributors
- ERP/CRM experience (SAP a plus)
