Technical Sales Manager - Railway
About the role
The Technical Sales Manager – Railway at Spang Engineered Solutions is responsible for maintaining and strengthening relationships with established and potential customers in the railway industry. This role involves managing proposals, quotations, and deliveries, while also developing new business opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with established and potential customers in Railway Signaling, Positive Train Control, and other railway applications.
- Monitor ongoing business in a high-mix, low-volume industry to balance changing customer requirements.
- Cultivate and grow additional business by strategically communicating the SES value proposition to maximize profitability using cost-plus and market pricing.
- Develop and maintain expertise in railway standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and customer requirements.
- Forecast short- and long-term revenue and gross margin by customers.
- Present Engineered Solutions to customers and follow up to win business.
- Lead customer kickoff and design review meetings as needed.
- Serve as the primary point of contact throughout project execution.
- Interface with manufacturing teams in the U.S. and China.
- Monitor delivery schedules and project status.
- Host customer visits.
- Coordinate with customer service to maintain strong customer relationships.
- Track competitive activity, market trends, and emerging technologies to support strategic planning and business development.
- Review customer complaints and recommend corrective action.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or Electronics Technology.
- 5+ years of experience in Sales, Engineering, or Business Development, preferably in the Railway industry.
