Technical Sales Manager- Advanced Metallization
About the role
The Technical Sales Manager – Advanced Metallization will join BASF’s Electronic Materials team, focusing on driving growth and innovation in metallization solutions for advanced semiconductor manufacturing. This role is responsible for managing customer and equipment supplier projects, identifying new business opportunities, and supporting the development and commercialization of next-generation metallization products (e.g., copper, cobalt, ruthenium, and related chemistries for sub-10nm nodes and advanced packaging).
Responsibilities
- Identify industry trends, unmet customer needs, and key growth drivers in advanced metallization for semiconductor devices.
- Lead cross-functional projects with US customers and equipment suppliers (e.g., deposition tool vendors), ensuring timely execution and alignment with global technical teams.
- Evaluate business potential and secure new opportunities by launching new products or expanding existing product lines.
- Initiate and foster strategic collaborations with customers and tool suppliers to accelerate innovation and adoption of BASF’s metallization solutions.
- Gather and analyze market intelligence on emerging technologies, customer requirements, and competitive landscape.
- Provide technical support for new applications and product development, working closely with R&D, sales, and manufacturing teams.
- Translate customer and market requirements into actionable product specifications and project plans.
- Inspire creativity and manage abstract concepts in a highly collaborative, global environment.
Requirements
- Experience with semiconductor industry standards, advanced node requirements (sub-10nm) and/or advanced packaging.
- Familiarity with process integration and qualification of metallization materials.
- Management experience in directing, coordinating and managing team activities to accomplish highly technical tasks.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, with a focus on metallization, film deposition (CVD, PVD, ALD), electrochemical plating, or advanced packaging.
- Proven track record of managing complex technical projects and collaborating with leading semiconductor manufacturers and/or equipment suppliers.
- Strong technical communication skills, with the ability to convey detailed requirements and results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills in cross-functional, multicultural teams.
- Self-starter with excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
