About the Role

The Technical Resource Manager oversees daily installation and commissioning operations for internal and external teams, ensuring projects align with proposal specifications and design. This role serves as the primary point of contact for installation questions and the key decision-maker for the local installation and field engineering group. The Manager also plays a critical role in quality assurance, conducting inspections with internal teams and subcontractor partners.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Personnel Management:
    • Oversee all aspects of team management for installation, fabrication, field engineers, and other technical team members, including hiring, retention, and development.
    • Administer corrective actions, including progressive discipline and termination when necessary.
    • Conduct quarterly performance reviews to evaluate competencies and identify areas for improvement.
    • Mentor and train the team to support professional growth and technical proficiency.
    • Manage administrative functions such as weekly timesheet approvals, monthly expense reports, and PTO requests.
  • Technical Operations & Project Execution:
    • Evaluate incoming projects to ensure compliance with company standards and assign projects to appropriate installation teams.
    • Facilitate construction communication between general contractors and Bluum Project Managers while teams are onsite (e.g., daily reports, trailer meetings).
    • Audit installation and technician hours to manage team utilization effectively.
    • Ensure field teams have the necessary materials and jobsite conditions to perform their duties.
    • Address and assist install teams and field engineers with onsite issues, providing troubleshooting and technical guidance.
    • Ensure all equipment is installed on customer sites according to proposal specifications and design documents.
    • Stock and maintain installation vans with necessary tools and oversee the upkeep of all fleet vehicles.
  • Quality Assurance & Safety:
    • Verify and enforce the Bluum Master Subcontractor Agreement, including Quality Standards and Installation Standards manual.
    • Perform quarterly quality control inspections for local subcontractor partners to ensure alignment with company standards.
    • Vet and onboard new subcontractor partners, verifying compliance with licensing and administrative requirements.
    • Manage safety protocols and ensure team members work safely on job sites.
    • Conduct and document mandatory safety meetings at least monthly.
  • Operational Support & Collaboration:
    • Support Project Delivery and Administration teams by serving as a conduit to field teams and answering technical questions.
    • Escalate installation concerns to the project management team and leadership clearly and concisely.

Requirements

  • Secondary diploma required.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Five (5) years of direct experience in audio-visual installation, including installing A/V equipment and terminating cables.
  • CTS certification required (CTS-I or CTS-D preferred); must obtain within 6 months of hire if not already certified.
  • OSHA 30 Certification preferred; must obtain within 3 months of hire if not already certified.
  • Low Voltage License (PLT or similar) preferred.

Skills

  • Comprehensive understanding of audio/video systems, including video (projection, production, switching, distribution), distributed audio, pro-audio, videoconferencing, integrated control systems, and mounting methods.
  • Ability to handle complex projects involving programming and configuration.
  • Strong technical proficiency, including interpreting drawings, analyzing signal flow, and providing technical guidance.
  • Ability to read and mark up blueprints of installation projects.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage multiple installations and timelines.
  • Expertise in working with diverse personalities and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the public.
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision and handle escalating situations professionally.
  • Advanced analytical skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
