UNICEF is seeking a Technical Report Writing Consultant to support the Gender Equality section within the Global Programme Division. This is a remote position based in New York Headquarters (NYHQ) with no travel required, lasting 10.5 months.
About the role
The consultant will lead the drafting, editing, and finalization of UNICEF’s annual gender equality reports. These reports synthesize programmatic results, lessons learned, and strategic recommendations for internal and external stakeholders, including UNICEF leadership, donors, and partners.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze program data, evaluations, and country-office reports on gender equality initiatives.
- Draft the annual gender equality report, ensuring alignment with UNICEF’s global reporting standards and donor requirements.
- Incorporate feedback from the Gender Equality section, senior management, and external reviewers.
- Develop clear, concise, and evidence-based narratives that highlight progress, challenges, and recommendations.
- Collaborate with graphic designers to produce visually compelling report layouts.
- Support the dissemination of the report through presentations and briefings to key stakeholders.
Requirements
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in gender studies, international development, social sciences, communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in report writing, research, or policy analysis, with a focus on gender equality and women’s empowerment.
- Proven track record of drafting high-quality technical reports for international organizations, governments, or NGOs.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize complex information into accessible formats.
- Excellent written English; additional UN languages (French, Spanish, Arabic) are an asset.
- Experience working with UNICEF or the UN system is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with UNICEF’s gender equality programming and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is preferred.
