Job Purpose

Join our engineering and production teams as a Technical Publications Writer to create clear, accurate, and compliant documentation supporting e2Companies Virtual Utility systems including Battery Energy Storage Systems, power generation equipment, and microgrid solutions. This role supports mission critical energy systems where accuracy and clarity in technical documentation directly impact safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Author and maintain technical manuals, installation guides, operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals, service procedures, and test documentation for BESS and power generation systems
  • Document physical system assembly, wiring, installation, and field commissioning procedures
  • Develop user-friendly, step-by-step instructions and safety documentation for field technicians, operators, and customers
  • Interpret and translate engineering drawings, BOMs, and electrical layouts into technician-ready documentation
  • Create and standardize document templates, style guides, and documentation processes
  • Support safety documentation, labeling requirements, and compliance submittals for UL 9540, UL 1973, NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, NFPA 855, and other applicable standards
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and field service teams to gather information and verify accuracy
  • Maintain documentation libraries and manage version control within the company PLM system
  • Create documentation that supports mission critical systems including BESS, power generation assets, and microgrid controls
  • Continuously improve documentation processes, readability, and compliance with industry best practices

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Engineering Technology, or a related field
  • 3 or more years of technical writing experience in manufacturing, energy, utilities, or power systems environments
  • Direct experience creating technical documentation for electrical power systems hardware, including BESS, microgrids, generators, switchgear, or similar industrial equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, one line diagrams, control narratives, and system specifications
  • Strong technical writing and editing skills with excellent command of English grammar
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with structured authoring tools is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail with proven document control skills
  • Able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
