GENERAL JOB SUMMARY
Provides on the job working leadership to employees in the assigned areas.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provides training assistance to new employees.
- Affixes to Supervisors / Assistant Supervisors with verifying hours and accuracy of timesheets.
- Checks daily availability of necessary materials, tools, and equipment.
- Works closely with the Supervisor / Assistant Supervisor to maintain quality and reduce lost time and repairs.
- Suggest ways to simplify and improve methods and procedures wherever possible.
- Responsible for observing and enforcing safety practices throughout the plant to maintain a safe working environment.
- Checks that necessary materials, tools and equipment are available and applicable to requirements.
- Affixes and advises mechanics when there are problems with equipment.
- Confers with operators and mechanics and observes, tests, and evaluates operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunction.
- Examine work orders and converse with equipment operators and mechanics to detect equipment problems and ascertain whether mechanical or human errors contributed to the problems.
- Arranges for test-runs of repaired machinery and equipment to verify adequacy of repairs.
- Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources to diagnose and repair equipment.
- Affixes with ordering parts, materials and attaining quotes for equipment repairs and projects.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has supervisory responsibilities.

- Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
- Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
- Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.
- Ability to adhere to workplace rules.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Ability to read complicated blueprints and schematics.
- Ability to communicate clearly with others both verbally and in written form.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing maintenance environment.
- Valid forklift operator’s permit required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Valid aerial lift permit required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Shop floor environment.
- Ability to perform repetitive motion (rotating wrists, keyboarding, using small/large tools).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to tolerate constant noise (machine motors – large fans).
- Ability to work safely in the presence of hazardous chemicals and hazardous conditions.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or sit for long periods of time.
- The employee frequently is required to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and to climb or balance.
- The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and speak or listen.
- Ability to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
