Job Responsibilities
- Serve as Salt's primary technical lead and project manager on all assigned AVCL and LBE engagements, owning the full lifecycle from concept through post-opening hypercare
- Develop and manage detailed project plans including scope, schedule, budget, technical deliverables, and vendor coordination across Audio, Video, Control, and Lighting disciplines
- Identify and mitigate technical and schedule risks proactively across all project phases, surfacing issues early with clear resolution paths
- Track costs, manage change orders, and report on financial performance and margin accountability throughout the project
- Serve as Salt's trusted technical partner to clients from early ideation through sustaining engineering and future refresh planning
Systems Design & Technical Documentation
- Oversee AVCL systems design from concept through detailed design, coordinating with engineers and designers to ensure deliverables meet project requirements and creative intent
- Review and manage AVCL documentation packages across all project phases — including AV drawing packages, wiring schematics, CAD/BIM drawings, equipment schedules, cable schedules, equipment elevations, and system architecture diagrams — for accuracy and completeness
- Oversee development and review of Interface Control Documents (ICD), Reflected Ceiling Plans, signal flow diagrams, and networking/cybersecurity methodology statements
- Manage and track facility inputs, site readiness assessments, spares lists, and availability forecasting documents across all design phases
- Lead development of Theory of Operations documentation and ensure final as-built documentation packages are complete and accurate at handover
Vendor, Integrator & Procurement Management
- Sources, contracts, negotiates, and manages vendors, systems integrators, and technical subcontractors across all AVCL scopes; leads RFPs when required
- Develops and manages procurement strategies including equipment procurement timelines, spares planning, and long-lead item forecasting
- Conducts and oversees vendor shop reviews, prototype reviews, and technology validation sessions to confirm readiness before production commitment
- Covers and oversees vendor Proof of Technology (POT) efforts for high-risk technical scope, managing test planning, execution, and results documentation
Testing, Commissioning & Acceptance
- Plans and manages acceptance testing — including formal test documentation, witness coordination, sign-off, and remediation tracking for any failed items prior to equipment release
- Leads on-site acceptance testing across all show systems following installation, verifying that all technical systems have been installed and are functioning to designed specifications before operational handover
- Oversees extended operational testing to validate system stability and identify faults under sustained load conditions prior to opening
- Leads end-to-end commissioning activities: system testing, advanced programming, show control automation, audio tuning, and final system acceptance
Handover, Post-Opening & Sustaining Operations
- Ensures systems are fully commissioned, documented, and operationally ready on opening day, including delivery of operations training for client teams
- Manages punch list completion and post-opening hypercare, tracking all open items through resolution
- Oversees delivery of complete final documentation packages including as-built drawings, O&M manuals with troubleshooting guides, final ICD, Theory of Operations, final spares list with sourcing information, and all show systems configuration and restore files
Client Partnership & Creative Collaboration
- Participates in client presentations, design reviews, and technical pitches — communicating complex systems clearly to non-technical audiences
- Collaborates with creative directors, scenic designers, and production teams to ensure technical and creative alignment throughout
- Contributes to technical proposals, feasibility assessments, and new project scoping in support of business development
Team Leadership & Standards
- Mentors junior technical staff and contributes to Salt's AVCL project workflows, documentation standards, and internal technical capabilities
- Stays current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices across themed entertainment, LBE, show control, and AVCL systems
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in technical project management, AVCL systems delivery, or systems integration within themed entertainment, LBE, attractions, or permanent installation environments
- Proven experience leading end-to-end AVCL project delivery including systems coordination, vendor management, installation oversight, and commissioning
- Hands-on technical knowledge across at least two AVCL disciplines (Audio, Video, Show Control, Lighting, Rigging, or IT/IoT Networks), with the credibility to direct and evaluate vendors and integration teams
- Strong project management and organizational skills — able to manage multiple concurrent workstreams, budgets, and stakeholder relationships simultaneously
- Experience managing and reviewing professional AVCL documentation including drawings, equipment schedules, signal flow diagrams, and commissioning plans
- Excellent client-facing communication skills — able to present technical content clearly and build trusted relationships with owner-operators and creative partners
- Proficiency in CAD or Vectorworks (required); proficient in Google Workspace
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally; availability for on-site work during installation and commissioning phases
