About the role
As Technical Leader (TL), you will support the architectural designs and execution of goals for your team. You value simplicity, diversity of thought, and are unafraid to challenge constraints and standard procedures to achieve the desired Agile design in partnership with additional subject matter experts. You'll manage all team members to create a modular, scalable solution that addresses and incorporates future architectural changes and designs. You will guide the team's engineering practices in test-driven development, continuous integration, and automated deployment. You are a hands-on people manager who coaches your team and removes roadblocks for their success. This role reports to the Director, IT CPQ and is based in a hybrid work arrangement in Milwaukee, WI.
Responsibilities
- In partnership with technical subject matter experts, lead the team accountable for the design and technological architecture of the product
- Guide project teams on technology strategy related to coding practices, continuous integration, and automated deployment
- Manage the technical design of the product and make architecture decisions at a team and product level
- Coach the technical team, specifically with code reviews
- Engage in coding to help the team develop solutions and solve surfacing problems
- Identify and remove technical impediments
- Work with Business Product Owner(s) to align the roadmap with strengths and opportunities within the technical stack
- Act as an advisor with the Product Owner(s) in story creation and acceptance criteria, and communicate tradeoffs with Designers
- Challenge the status quo to find better ways of solving technical problems and designing solutions
- Provide the team a roadmap for implementing software engineering practices for higher code quality
- Share responsibility with Product Owner(s) for building reusable and scalable components
- Monitor performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels
- Develop budget and monitor expenditures
- Meet with IT staff to determine the impact of proposed changes to hardware or software
- Research and implement technological strategic solutions
- Seek out and embrace relevant perspectives when assessing a situation or decision; demonstrate clear understanding of multiple viewpoints
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience
- Legal authorization to work in the US is required; we will not sponsor individuals for employment visas for this job opening
- Ability to travel up to 25%
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of management experience
- Degree in CS, MIS, Software Engineering, or equivalent engineering/technical discipline
- Experience with a commercial-facing portfolio with $5B+ in revenue
- Understanding of web-based application development and management experience
- Insight into newest technologies and trends
- Familiarity with Cloud/DevOps environments including Azure DevOps
- Experience in Agile Development, with SAFe experience preferred
- Understanding of the relationship with Product Owner, Design Lead, and the rest of the technical team
- Experience managing technical priorities within the Backlog
- Experience managing overall delivery through the aligned team

Rockwell Automation’s hybrid policy requires employees to work at a Rockwell location at least Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays unless they have a business obligation out of the office.
