Technical Leader
About the role
At RK&K, we are hiring a Technical Leader in Transportation to support existing clients and develop new ones in the Tennessee region. You will lead dynamic transportation pursuits and projects, focusing on areas such as project development, analysis, and oversight.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical components of transportation planning and/or design projects
- Mentor junior engineering and technician staff on transportation planning and/or design tasks
- Understand and apply AASHTO and local state/municipal design criteria
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, government agencies, and project staff
- Manage project staff and sub-consultants
- Serve as Project/Program and Contractual Manager on various transportation-related projects
- Facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations, and plan approvals
- Participate in business development and marketing efforts
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- At least ten (10) years of experience in civil engineering design with a focus in transportation/highway engineering
- Tennessee Professional Engineering Registration (PE) or ability to obtain within six (6) months
- Expertise in Microstation / Geopak / InRoads/ Open Roads and/or AutoCAD / Civil 3D
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with DOT, state, and local government agencies
Qualifications
- Clear understanding of AASHTO and local state/municipal design criteria
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
Skills
- Knowledge of Highway Design Standards and other relevant guidelines
- Proficiency in project management software
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
