About the role

The Technical Lab Assistant (TLA) position at Avita Ontario Hospital is part of the Laboratory Department. The role involves maintaining laboratory equipment, assisting in clerical duties, providing phlebotomy services, and performing CLIA-waived tests.

Responsibilities

• Maintain laboratory equipment as directed by the Laboratory Director or designee
• Assist in clerical duties of the department
• Assist technicians and technologists as needed
• Perform phlebotomy procedures and process other specimens
• Conduct CLIA-waived testing and ensure quality results

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Current BLS certification
• At least two (2) years of full-time experience in a hospital laboratory setting with phlebotomy experience
• Adherence to regulatory requirements including State, Federal, and accrediting body regulations

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Phlebotomist
• Graduate of a Certified Phlebotomy program
• Phlebotomy certification
• Medical Terminology proficiency
