Technical Instructor I (IT Support)
About the role
Per Scholas is seeking an IT Support instructor to become a member of our Training Team. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, problem-solving individual with strong technical and instructional skills, demonstrates the ability to adapt quickly to a dynamic environment, and maintains a strong sense of accountability. To succeed in this role, candidates must be business-minded within our mission focus and excel in instructional delivery that meets clients’ and learners’ high expectations.
Responsibilities
- Support instructor-led training that prepares students for entry-level to mid-level careers in IT Support. Responsibilities include daily instruction, assessment administration, attendance, one-on-one tutoring, daily evaluation and monitoring of individual student progress, addressing student violations with students in a consistent manner, and more
- Provide students with access to relevant resources for outside learning on technologies and study aids relevant to the curriculum
- Work closely with the team to identify student needs, provide the necessary support, establish individualized plans for student achievement, and participate in regular student-status meetings.
- Maintain and update Salesforce and/or our LMS with student grades, certification scores, and progress notes.
- Support and maintain the training curricula, syllabi, lesson plans, and other classroom materials.
Qualifications
- Instructional Skill Sets: 1-3 years of teaching or training experience, strong technical background, ability to grasp and convey highly technical subject matter, ability to respond clearly to live digital conversations via a digital engagement platform such as Zoom or an in-person training environment, strong communication skills
- Required Skill Sets: Proficient understanding of IT support fundamentals, familiarity with operating systems, experience in troubleshooting common IT issues, knowledge of IT security protocols and best practices, ability to work with diverse IT tools and software, understanding of cloud computing platforms and services, experience with mobile device management and troubleshooting, familiarity with virtualization technologies, knowledge of IT support and best practices and service level agreements (SLAs), ability to stay updated with the rapidly evolving tech landscape, commitment to ongoing professional development, applicable certifications, and coursework to stay current with rapidly evolving technology trends and advancements.
- Preferred Skill Sets: Experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various computer hardware, ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot operating systems, experience in setting up and managing both wired and wireless networks, experience in configuring, troubleshooting, and securing mobile devices, experience in setting up and managing Windows Server environments and roles, experience in designing and implementing Group Policy, experience in understanding and managing server storage solutions, experience in implementing backup strategies.
- Professional Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent practical/industry experience), strong technical aptitude, project management, and organizational skills with detailed follow-through abilities, excellent written communication, presentation, and customer service skills, solid understanding of business needs, strong evaluation and data management skills, prior knowledge or background in IT (if minimal, a desire and willingness to learn what’s needed) and a passion for technology is a plus, Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred, Relevant industry certifications, such as CompTIA A+ (1200 Series) , Network+, or others, at least three years of experience in an IT support role.

Pay
We are targeting a salary range of $60,000 - $70,000, where the difference in salary is typically determined by several factors, including geography in which the selected candidate resides, and alignment with qualifications and experience.

- Holidays & PTO: Full-Time Per Scholas team members enjoy over 40 days of paid time off each year through a mix of holidays, vacation, and sick/personal time! All employees are eligible for Holiday pay upon hire (a total of 22 holidays annually, including a week off for Independence day and a week before the New Year). Full-Time Benefits Eligible employees also receive 80 Wellness Hours to use for Sick, Safe, or Personal reasons and accrue Vacation at a rate of 8 hours at the beginning of every month, supporting rest, recharge, and work-life balance. Vacation accruals increase with tenure. Part-time employees are afforded time off on a prorated basis and in accordance with local requirements.

- Retirement Savings: 401(k) plan with a current 100% employer match on contributions up to 6%, eligible employees are offered entry and full vesting after 90 days with the company.
