About the role

Per Scholas seeks a dynamic, team-oriented Technical Instructor to deliver our structured and approved curriculum in full-time technical training, ensuring adult students are equipped with the necessary skills for success in entry and mid-level tech careers.

Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom training in a highly interactive style to prepare adult students for entry-level to mid-level careers in Information Technology.
• Provide daily instruction, assessment administration, attendance tracking, one-on-one tutoring, evaluation, and monitoring of individual student progress.
• Manage student behavior, monitor and enforce class attendance, dress code, and other program policies consistently.
• Collaborate with the Senior Director, Program Development and Design to evaluate and evolve the curriculum as new technologies emerge.
• Work closely with the Program team to identify student needs, provide support, establish individualized plans for achievement, and participate in student status meetings.
• Maintain and update Salesforce and Canvas with student grades, certifications, scores, and progress notes.
• Advise students on career tracks within the field and recommend employment opportunities based on their skills and credentials.
• Work with Business Solutions to recommend students for specific employment opportunities.
• Create, submit, and maintain training curricula for approval and files.
• Collaborate with staff at other sites to ensure the integrity of the program model.
• Order books, materials, and exam vouchers in advance of training.
• Participate in extracurricular activities such as social events, employer visits, and professional development.
• Perform other related work to accomplish the objectives of the program.
• Meet professional teacher education requirements of the school and state.
• Engage in professional development activities.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of teaching experience.
• At least 1 year of IT work experience.
• Experience with curriculum, syllabus development, and lesson planning (preferred).
• Ability to explain and clarify complex topics to students with diverse backgrounds.
• Skill in connecting real-life work scenarios to the teaching environment.
• Experience helping students apply professional skills in classroom participation.
• Experience with student assessment and evaluating curriculum effectiveness.
• Ability to analyze and synthesize technical information.
• Capacity to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to curriculum changes.

Qualifications

• Current A+ certification (1001-1002 Series).
• Google IT Support Professional Certificate.
• Network+ Certification (N10-007).
• Experience implementing network technologies in business environments, focusing on TCP/IP suite protocols.
• Advanced knowledge of Windows, Apple, and Linux Operating Systems (end-user and server versions).
• Thorough understanding of security concepts, models, and standards, with experience in business implementation.
• Linux production experience (preferred).
• Knowledge of cloud services technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, OpenStack) (preferred).
• Additional industry certifications (preferred).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience) (preferred).
• 3+ years of IT work experience (preferred).
• Experience teaching technical courses (preferred).
• Experience teaching remotely (preferred).
• Experience in workforce development (preferred).

Pay

Target salary of $70,000/year, with a range between $65,000/year and $73,500/year. Salary differences are typically based on geography and alignment with qualifications and experience.
